Abstract
Common Core State Standards in the US has prompted a number of shifts in literacy instruction, emphasizing “worthy” texts, rereadings, and text-based evidence. This session examines salient characteristics of close reading, how it was implemented in one high school ESL class, and student reactions to the process.
